Sorry for the long wait but we are BACK and with a great artist at that, to showcase for our next installment of “Who’s on Deck?“. This week we are featuring Bay Area rapper, A-1.
Born and raised in San Francisco, the Mission District helped develop A-1 into the artist he is today. Having been exposed to so many different walks of life, helped shape his open mind and charismatic nature, which in turn benefited his creativity and artistry.
A-1 recently received the honor of being listed as part of the Bay Area’s freshman 10 rappers of 2012 by Thizzler On the Roof, which comes as no surprise after listening to only a few songs by him.
His flow is quirky, different and defined by him all at the same time while captivating his audience with creative word play and lyrics that make you listen. The production team is on point and he brings a different sound to the Bay Area post-Hyphy era. A-1, alongside many other Bay Area rappers releasing music are trying to tell the world to stop and listen. They are letting the world know Hyphy does not define every piece of music that is made in the area. Instead, this new group is making music that reflects the vast and beautiful culture that makes up the Bay Area. One of the best representatives of that is A-1.
A-1′s latest music was released in August of 2011. “The Book of Adam” is A-1′s most comprehensive mixtape to date.
Accompanied by a variety of musical genres, A-1 creates a soundscape of meaningful lyrics and complimentary instrumentals. From examining popular culture to over the top party songs, “The Book of Adam” is a pure dissection of the multi-dimensional artist that is A-1. Featuring original beats from various producers including WooStaar, Davin Gruesome, Sac Masta, ATG and D.E. “The Book of Adam” will not dissappoint listeners from all walks of life.
