Five years from now…
In five years I see myself with my own radio show and working on getting into television. I also want to further my education.
What are your goals in life?
My goal in life is to be powerful! To posses a voice that changes, and inspires young women to do the same. I want to be the person that young women aspire to be and a role model for a community that lacks motivation. I want to see more young women getting higher education and less teen pregnancy. I want to see more young women in politics and less in music videos. I want to see more young women millionaires and less on welfare. So basically I want my own television show. A show that educates, empowers, and inspires.
Strengths/Skills
I am best at public speaking on issues regarding underprivileged people and women. I came from an underprivileged home, both my parents migrated here from El Salvador a couple of months before my birth. And I am a woman who has faced many hardships for the fact that I am “the second sex”, which inspired me to extensively learn about the social construct women are forced into. Through knowledge I believe I am on the verge of solid resolutions that will help women break the mold.
St. John’s Legacy…
I have learned so much at St. Johns University. I majored in speech: public address, part of the rhetoric, communications and theatre dept. In this unique program I have learned an art that many will never be exposed too. I have learned the importance of speech, the power words have, and the fact that “language is action.” I want to be the reason more students, especially women take advantage of this unique program at St. Johns.
