Lighten up, people! It’s getting a little too serious in here. This week, two planets wake up from their retrogrades and resume forward motion. Retrogrades occur when a planet passes the Earth in its orbit. Like two trains passing each other at different speeds, one appears to be moving backwards. When a planet is retrograde, it’s a bit like its powers are traveling in reverse. We are often forced to look back to the past in the name of refining, reworking, and reassessing our plans and relationships.
Since February 7, heavyweight Saturn has been retrograde in Libra, the sign of committed partnerships. We’ve all had to work a little bit harder to keep our duos dynamic. Saturn is the personal trainer planet. Although its lessons make us stronger, we always have to “Drop and give ‘em twenty” in order to reap its rewards. Growth without suffering? Saturn doesn’t believe in that. “No pain, no gain,” is Saturn’s motto. Fortunately, that pain should be a lot less severe after Monday, when Saturn plows ahead once again. Now we can integrate the relationship lessons we’ve learned since February. For those of us who’ve been pondering reconciling with someone from the past, Saturn’s direct turn should bring clarity on the right moves to make. If we’ve suffered more than we’ve progressed in our closest relationships these past four months, we’ll need to make some tough decisions. On Wednesday, love planet Venus also resumes forward motion after being retrograde in Gemini since May 15. Wondering if they love you or love you not? There have certainly been some mixed signals afoot this spring and early summer. Clarity of communication returns this week, making it safe to come out and flirt again…without the fear of being taken for a ride or accidentally leading someone on. Do a clean sweep of commitment-phobes, lingering loser exes, and even those irresistibly hot players. These characters had their moment during Venus retrograde, but as the romantic planet powers forward, we’ll need to invest our time in relationships that might actually go somewhere.
More happy news for our love lives: on Monday, communication planet Mercury moves into Leo until August 31. Leo is the zodiac’s lover, the hopeless romantic who fuels our passion and rules our hearts. The fiery energy of the zodiac’s lion definitely raises the temperature of our libidos. Summer lovin’ can happen so, so fast. Try not to break any hearts!
