In the form of orange, purple, and gray, the new Adidas JS Roundhouse Mids have sparked quite the frenzy. At first glance it’s hard not to notice the bright orange cuffs chained to the back of the shoe. While some see them (the cuffs) as an eyesore many others would describe them as shackles, which only aid to promote a period of great oppression. As seen on Twitter, sneaker enthusiasts and celebrities alike are tweeting their concern, notably, Free, the original co-host of BET’s 106 & Park.
Offensive or not, many will chalk up the sneaker to poor taste. Still, it seems Adidas knows exactly how to get the people’s attention. On that note, here’s a question for you: do you consider this to a be a slick marketing ploy or derogatory message? Would you go out and buy them?
